Dear TOM summer school participants!
In this session, we will review a set of models that aim to explain why people tend to hold similar beliefs to those with whom they interact frequently (e.g., members of an organizational unit tend to share similar beliefs about the determinants of firm performance, more so than members of different organizational units). We fill focus on settings in which agents learn about the `value’ of a set of alternative options from their experiences, the experiences of others, or information passed to them by others.
To prepare of the session, please try completing this short assignment. In this document, you will find the description of a simple social influence model and you will be asked to reflect on some of the modelling choices and their meaning.
